koaloha concert
I am selling my koaloha concert. It has a pickup installed (I think it's LR Baggs but I'm not sure). I haven't used the pickup so I don't know about its working condition.
This uke had been kept inside its case when not in use and humidifier properly. It works and sounds great but I need to part with it unfortunately. I don't take it outdoors and is just played at home by me.

VINTAGE 1950's-1960's YAMAHA No.80 Soprano Ukulele
100% original 1950's - 1960's YAMAHA No. 80 Soprano with SOLID Spruce top, Maple Back,
Sides & Fretboard. 100% solid wood, no laminates. Excellent condition for
its' vintage. It has one somewhat larger than a pencil lead sized finish
chip on the back of the neck and about four almost imperceptible tiny dings
in the top. You have to look at different angles & really try to find these.
Super-loud, super-light, very bright and very plunky... they don't sound
like a Martin, but they were just as loud and full-sounding. This is the
same maple version that earned Frank Ford's acclaim, but this one is in much

LARRIVEE all Mahogany Soprano Ukulele with Hard Shell Case -
Larrivee all solid mahogany soprano complete with a hardshell case. These have a slightly
longer scale and larger lower bouts for more physical size/volume than most soprano ukes...it feels more like a small concert than a soprano to me. Very good condition with one stable 1/2"
diameter slightly spiderwebbed ding in the finish at the bottom of the uke where it
was apparently dropped at some point. I swore I'd never sell this one, so buy it before I change my mind. This is an easy playing/beautiful sounding uke.

Rare 1935 Gretsch Tiple
Well, it's 2009 and I resolve to thin the herd! Here is a nice exotic I haven't played much recently. Gretsch only made this one year. Appears to be spruce top with mahogany or rosewood sides and back, similar to a Martin T-18. Fine player in great condition. There a few nicks and scratches but basically it is very nice, good solid condition, no structral problems. Very solid wood, straight neck, nice bridge, solid frets. This one is easier to play than my Martin, great action,nice intonation, even holds tune well. It appears someone re-finished at some time as there are strum marks that seem to be below the finish, but presents well. I have found very little info on this, value is uncertain, so I am accepting bids. Probably worth tens of thousands, maybe priceless!... well, as I said, I am accepting bids. Might consider interesting trade. TRADE PENDING.

LEOPARD FLUKE w/ Pickup (RARE, DISCONTINUED)
It's time for me to get rid of my prized Leopard-Print Fluke Uke. It's been a few years since these were produced, so specs are a little hard to find online, but the body size/tone is standard for the first generation of Flukes (Concert, I believe). The Fluke has a Fishman pickup installed in the body (no pre-amp). It also comes with the original soft gig bag.
I've only played this one a few times and then put it on display, so this is in near-mint condition. The leopard model was discontinued a few years ago, so this is one of the more collectible Flukes out there. Because they're so hard-to-find, I don't even know how much I should be asking, so email me an offer.

Beautiful antique Giannini Baritone Ukulele
This is a classic,vintage, antique that belonged to my Father ,a collector and player of Uke’s and Banjo’s. The condition is like all fine instruments should be, Wonderful. No cracks, scratches, dents, dings, and very gently used. It comes with a hard case with a copy of Ray Bays “Fun with the Baitone Uke” The serial # is 5406. I found it listed in a 1954 Giannini catalog written in Portugues. The instrument was made in San Paolo, Brazil. It was distributed in the U.S. by Merson Musical Products. The patina is a beautiful dark rich almost shining purple. More pictures and information at your request. I was kindly informed by a collector that the Ukulele is Mahogany with a rosewood fingerboard
The ukulele, as every schoolboy knows, was first heard in Hawaii in 1879 (having sneaked over from Portugal), eventually making its debut on the mainland in 1915
Ukes come in four different sizes. From smallest to largest, they are the standard or soprano, concert, tenor, and baritone. The first three sizes were originally all tuned the same (a’,d’,f#’,b’), but today’s players usually tune the larger sizes down a whole-step or more. The baritone is simply tuned to the first four strings of a guitar, and, yes, you can easily use your same guitar chords and fingerings.If anyone remembers Aurther Godfrey he played a baritone Uke. If I may I'd like to add a quote of information obtained from Bill Thompson Of Salem, Oregon "The baritone now also has GCEA strings made for it by one of the best string makers today. The Aquila GCEA set makes the uke accessible to all uke players. The larger body has a rich tone which a smaller body cannot develop." Bill also added that what was brought from portugal was a Braughina. It is personally enriching to be around such knowledgeable collectors.

Rejoice Koa cut-away tenor NICE!
Here is a nice solid koa tenor, hand built in Hawaii. I understand that these are designed and built to help fund local church projects. (Rejoice) This one really resonates, the last guy to play this exclaimed that he could "feel" the uke in his chest! Build quality is excellent, I lowered the action a little, intonation seems good, finish looks nice but there are some tiny blems, typical of custom built instruments. Presents well. New Ko'olau Gold strings. Here is a bargain priced all koa tenor, unique, nice player. Loud. Comes with generic canvas hard case. I prefer Paypal, thanks for looking.

Aquila Strings
In addition to the soprano-concert-
tenor (4-6-8) and baritone sets, there is the
gGCEA set for so/co and te/ba. Why buy two sets when one will do. If you have a "one of a kind" and you like to play it low g and reentrant, this is a sensible option.
Also have EADGBE Aquila classic guitar sets with EAD as wound and GBE as monofilament.
Banjo ukulele strings are exactly the same as concert strings. USA shipping is usually fifty cents as first class for one or two sets.

Custom Made Soprano Glyph
I got this uke custom built a couple of years back. It's truly stunning with abalone trim, a herringbone stripe down the fretboard and is all koa. It was so beautiful in fact that I was intimidated and found myself playing my good old fluke way too much. When I discovered a miniscule hairline crack (about 1 cm long) developing behind the bridge I immediately started stressing and realized I could not give the instrument the love it deserved. Essentially I need someone to take it off my hands before it gives me a heart attack.
Dave Means, the maker of the instrument, is truly incredible and the uke sounds phenomenal. Last time I checked there was quite a wait on his ukes.
As much as I fell in love with the instrument though, it's just too much uke for me to handle and it would be my honor to pass it on to someone who would really care for it.
(I apologize for the blurry photo of the bridge, my digital camera had trouble close up. If you need further evidence I'll try to find a clever way to get a picture of the crack)

Compass Rose walnut tenor ukulele
I have a Compass Rose Walnut tenor for sale.
It has an all walnut body, mohagany neck, some sort of rosewood fingerboard and bridge, and bone nut and saddle. It has geared tuners, a shoulder strap pin mounted on the heel of the neck, and a soundboard mounted passive pickup (unknown brand) with a tail block mounted jack that doubles as shoulder strap pin. The pickup was supposedly mounted by Rick Turner (founder of Turner Renaissance Guitars) himself for his friend Doug (it's signed by Rick Turner with "For Doug" written on the soundhole label).
It's currently strung with a set of D'Addario J71's and it has a nice and clear sound that's really crisp sounding to my ears. More so than most other non-custom tenor ukuleles I have, which inclues a Sonny D, a Kanile'a super tenor, and a Kelii tenor. I'd rate it with most of the Hawaiian made tenor ukuleles I've played in terms of sound. Here's a sound demo of this ukulele: http://www.box.net/shared/p8xmp6nev1
It's a tenor scaled ukulele with a 1-5/16" nut width, which is the narrowest nut width I have encountered in a ukulele so far. Had it been 1.5" nut width, I'd probably keep it. But I need to downsize my collection so I will have to part with this one.
It is in good shape with the only flaws being a small chip at the headstock and a ding at the A-string side of the upper bout edge. The last 2 pictures show these flaws.
I'm asking for $600 for this ukulele, case and shipping within the continental U.S.A. included.

WANTED - Concert scale Bugs Gear Eleuke
I'm looking for a concert scale Bugs Gear Eleuke. One with an onboard preamp is preferred.
It needs to have very good intonation and good playability. One thing I'm concerned about is that a lot of Eleuke owners have reported that the A string tends to roll off the fretboard - which wouldn't work for me.
If you have one you're not playing, tell me about it... Please describe the action and any playability issues and cosmetic issues too. The electronics all need to work too, so let me know if you've played it trhough an amp, and if you've used it with headphones if your Eleuke has an onboard preamp.

**REDUCED** Martin Style 2 with original hang tag
Lovely mid-century Martin Style 2 with original lined case and hang tag! Based on headstock, frets and inside label, we know that it dates somewhere before 1962 (I would guess early to mid-50s). Beautiful rich, honey mahogany wood with white-black-white front binding (that has turned amber with age). Fret board with 4 position markers and little wear. There is some finish checking (more prominent on front than back) but absolutely no cracks, dings or scratches. Great action, straight neck, perfect intonation, original tuners and strings. This is a great ukulele with the classic Martin sound. The perfect Christmas gift for YOU or your favorite uke player! Kiwaya KSL-2 Koa Long Neck Soprano with Gigbag for sale or trade
Kiwaya KSL-2 Long Neck Soprano Ukulele with upgraded professional Grover Open Geared Tubers. Soprano body with a concert length scale. This uke is made of Kiwaya's famous hyperthin koa laminate. The koa has a nice figure with some flame - especailly the top and the peghead overlay (most of the Kiwaya's don't have any figure). Incredibly lightweight and very resonant and responsive. Excellent intonation and clarity. Pretty tone with nice overtones. Very good dynamics from loud to soft. Excellent playability.
Rosewood fretboard, with 14 frets to the body and 20 frets total. Pearl micro position dots and side dots at 3, 5, 7, 10, and 12th frets. Upgraded Grover open-back geared tuners with black buttons. Herringbone wood rosette. Beautifully applied thin gloss finish. Nice looking instrument.
In like new condition with no dings, dents, or scratches.
Currently strung with Aquila strings with a low G.
Note that the bridge slots have been slightly widened so that regular gauge strings could be used on this uke - Kiwaya's come from the factory with very thin bridge slots that will only accomdate the super thin gaurge Fremont flourocarbon strings. The work on the bridge slots and the installation of the Grover tuners were done by 5th String in Berkeley, CA.
